Stand Your Ground: How to Navigate Pediatric Visits

DeeDee Hoover joins Dr. Paul Thomas on Pediatric Perspectives to share the real stories parents need to hear — and what to do when you feel pressured in the exam room.

Click to watch the episode on CHD TV.

A Note from Just a Mom — DeeDee Hoover

Being back on Pediatric Perspectives with Dr. Paul is always an honor — and this episode is one I've wanted to have for a long time.

Just a mom here logo of mother, child, heart and microphone.

We talked about something so many parents face and don't talk about enough: what happens when you walk into a pediatrician's office and feel pressured, manipulated, or flat-out bullied about vaccines.

I shared some of my own stories. Things I still remember like they were yesterday.

One of them happened when Ryder was about 16 months old. We had just moved to the Gardnerville, Nevada area, and a neighbor recommended a local pediatrician. I went in thinking I was interviewing the doctor — finding out if the practice would be a good fit for us. The doctor asked me to step outside for a moment while the nurse watched Ryder.

When we walked back in, I heard my son scream. The nurse had vaccinated him — the MMR, if I'm remembering right — without my consent.

I grabbed Ryder and headed for the door. The doctor called after me: "You didn't pay for the visit."

I turned around. I said some things I probably shouldn't repeat here. And we left.

What I know now — and didn't know then — is that you have every right to say no. Every right to walk out that door.

Dr. Paul said something in this episode I keep coming back to:

"If you are choosing not to vaccinate, you are standing on your God-given natural immune system that is powerful. In fact, it's more powerful than an immune system that's been hammered with a lot of vaccines. So you don't need to live in fear. You can live in hope and faith."

We covered so much more in this conversation — what to say when you're being pressured in the office, what to do if a practice tries to dismiss your family, and how to handle a hospital visit when your child isn't vaccinated.

Please watch it. Share it with a mama who needs it. And reach out if you have questions — that's what we're here for.

How Being Poisoned Can Be Mistaken for Being Infected

The exposome — our cumulative toxic burden — may be the missing explanation for the chronic disease epidemic we keep misreading as infection.

Abstract visualization of environmental and chemical toxins alongside organic natural elements, representing the human body's cumulative toxic load.

Exposome — the cause of so many health conditions we attribute to infection, or label as a syndrome or idiopathic.

When we look for what causes disease, our scientific institutions and public health systems have focused on infectious diseases and genetics as the causes for most conditions. What has been largely overlooked and underappreciated are the effects of toxic exposures, including environmental toxins and those we inject and ingest. Vaccines and acetaminophen are extremely toxic — vaccines bypass our natural defenses by being injected, and acetaminophen hijacks our detox pathways by depleting glutathione.

We live in a world that is becoming increasingly toxic with no end in sight at this point. This largely explains why health is deteriorating despite massive expenditures for the so-called health care system that doesn't even acknowledge, let alone understand, the exposome and the role of cumulative toxins on our health.

Parents, and all who desire improved health outcomes — this is the most important issue of our time. Understand that knowing begins the healing. Many of the toxins that are the biggest contributors to our toxic load (exposome) are avoidable.

Vaccines can be avoided. As I outline in Vax Facts, for every vaccine on the childhood immunization schedule, your child is more likely to die from the vaccine than from the disease for which you are vaccinating.

William Parker, PhD, has published extensively on the harms of acetaminophen and has recently released his book Tylenol and Autism: Evidence, Scientific Blunders, and Medicine Gone Wrong.

When it comes to autism and what causes it, the exposome theory explains it best. I'm convinced that vaccines are a major cause, but clearly not the only cause, as there are some unvaccinated children who developed profound autism. Retired food scientist Woodrow Monte, author of While Science Sleeps, is convinced aspartame is causative. Stephanie Seneff wrote the masterpiece on glyphosate, Toxic Legacy: How the Weedkiller Glyphosate Is Destroying Our Health and the Environment, showing how glyphosate is a unique and dangerous toxin and a big part of the current exposome.

I want to end with a message of hope. If you are a parent — or thinking about becoming one — and you worry about what kind of world you will be bringing children into, here is my message of hope. We now know many of the worst offenders. You can decline vaccines and eliminate that toxic threat. You can avoid acetaminophen and aspartame, and you should. You can largely avoid most glyphosate by eating true organic. Some of the other major threats can be minimized by drinking filtered water, breathing purified air. There are a host of ways one can detox themselves from past exposures.

Remember one toxin that most of us ignore, and that is stress. We live in a stressed-out world and expose ourselves to constant stress. Screen time is a major stress, toxic relationships are a chronic stress, and we can all write down our own list of major stressors. Do what you can to eliminate and reduce these as much as possible! Your life and that for your children may just depend on it.

Remember above all else, focus on love. Love yourself and love others.

    Blessings.

"It's Exactly the Opposite" — What I Said About Unvaccinated Children, and Why It Made The Defender Copy

A retired pediatrician's words reached a national audience. Here's the conversation.

I was recently featured in an article published by The Defender — Children's Health Defense's publication — after a Q&A segment I recorded for CHD.TV's Pediatric Perspectives. A mother had submitted a question that so many of you have faced: she was being told that by not vaccinating her children, she was putting everyone else at risk.

I answered that question directly. Here's a piece of what I said:

"That is actually a completely false narrative. It is the vaccinated, not the unvaccinated, who are getting sick at much greater percentages."

That's not a talking point. It's what 35 years of clinical practice and careful study of the data have shown me. Unvaccinated children are, in my observation, rarely sick. Sick people spread illness — not healthy ones. And a Cleveland Clinic study from the COVID pandemic confirmed the same pattern: the more COVID vaccines a person received, the more likely they were to contract COVID.

"It's exactly opposite of what we're taught to think."

The Defender article, written by Jill Erzen, covers the full conversation — including my thoughts on the hepatitis B vaccine, the Tdap, the practice of vaccinating grandparents before visiting newborns (which later studies suggest may actually increase the risk of bringing pertussis to your infant), and the fear-driven messaging that shapes so many families' decisions. There is a lot there, and I hope you'll read every word.

A Note from Just a Mom — DeeDee Hoover

When  I am talking to a momma  who's been told her unvaccinated children are  dangerous,  I feel for them.  She didn't make that choice lightly. She  did the reading. She asked the hard questions. She lost sleep and she  probably made that decision based on prior children who have been vaccine injured, sometimes very seriously.

What Dr. Paul said in this article is the kind of thing that every mom should read.  Not as a debate script, but as a breath of air. Read it, share it, and  know that we're in this with you.  Know that you have support, you are  not in this alone.  Kidsfirst4ever.com.

Children's Health from the Beginning: My Conversation on Mondays with Michael Copy

From prenatal care to infant bodywork to teen mental health — what I shared on Mondays with Michael, and what I want every parent to hear.

On May 4th, I joined Dr. Michael Gaeta on his show, Mondays with Michael — a podcast on natural health and health freedom that he has been hosting for more than six years. It was actually my first time on Michael's show, and I was grateful for the invitation and the space to have a real conversation. We covered a lot of ground — prenatal care, infant bodywork, C-section recovery, mental health in children and teenagers, and how parents can find support when the decisions feel overwhelming.

    In this episode, we cover:

    • What I recommend for mamas during pregnancy — from what we put in and near our bodies to managing stress and building early connection with your baby
    • Why writing a birth plan matters, how to advocate for your values in a hospital or birth center setting, and why flexibility is just as important as preparation
    • What I've observed in more than 15 years of specialized pediatric bodywork about C-section babies — including the scoliosis and torticollis patterns I see most often
    • My COS (Cranial Occipital Spinal) technique and what early bodywork can do for an infant's developing spine and muscular system
    • The rise in childhood and teen anxiety — what I'm seeing in coaching, and what's actually helping
    • Pacifiers, breastfeeding, and the small decisions that can have a bigger impact than most parents realize
